Courtney Butler obtained her J.D. from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, and graduated as the best in my class.
During law school, I served as the president of the Spanish Speaking Lawyers Association. I was also an intern with a private local immigration law firm, the Denver Immigration Court, a corporate law firm in Caracas, Venezuela, and the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network, where I still volunteer as a pro bono lawyer.
After law school, I served as a clerk for the Colorado Court of Appeals and the Vermont Environmental Court. I later worked for two years with a private Vermont law firm before returning to my native state, Colorado.
When I was in Vermont, I offered volunteer legal services to many immigrants and refugee nonprofit organizations. I have primarily practiced immigration law since I returned to Colorado in 2014.
I am a current member of the Executive Committee of the Colorado Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). I am also a former chair and active member of the Spanish Speaking Lawyers Committee of the Colorado Bar Association.
I have made representation for clients before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), , the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Colorado Court of Appeals, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Immigration Court. My immigration practice includes family, business, removal defense and asylum. I have resided in Argentina, Ecuador, and Venezuela. I am also fluent in Spanish.
