Craig S.   • Blackstone in numerous transactions including its acquisitions of Strategic Hotels & Resorts, Inc. and BioMed Realty Trust;
  • KKR in its acquisitions of TXU Corp. and PharMerica;
  • Invitation Homes in its merger with Starwood Waypoint Homes;
  • Global Payments Inc. in its acquisition of Heartland Payment Systems, Inc.;
  • Aetna’s independent directors in a special committee investigation arising out of its proposed acquisition of Humana Inc.;
  • Hovnanian Enterprises, Inc. in defeating Solus’s efforts to enjoin a refinancing transaction between Hovnanian and GSO Capital Partners, LP; and
  • Former independent directors of BearingPoint in a lawsuit alleging breaches of fiduciary duty for failing to sell the company.

  • AIG’s Board of Directors in shareholder, derivative, and ERISA litigation arising out of the subprime crisis;
  • MDC Partners Inc. in securities litigation related to the Company’s financial disclosures;
  • J.P. Morgan Securities and Keefe, Bruyette & Woods as underwriters of Wilmington Trust securities;
  • Yongye International in securities and derivative litigations related to its financial disclosures;
  • Issuer and underwriters, including the Royal Bank of Scotland and Deutsche Bank, in RMBS litigations; and
  • Underwriters of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac securities in class actions and related FINRA arbitrations.

Craig’s other representations have included the defense of Travelers in Plant Insulation Co. v. Fireman’s Fund Ins. Co. (Super. Ct. San Francisco) (successful ruling after trial on alleged non-products coverage issues) and the Hanwha Group and Orix Corporation in a widely followed multibillion-dollar ICC international arbitration against the Korea Development Insurance Corporation, an agency of the Korean government.

He has an active pro bono practice including representing clients in housing court, domestic violence, and asylum matters. Craig recently represented the City of New York in connection with a lawsuit brought against the City of New York and a former New York City police officer. He also serves as the Secretary of the Second Circuit Committee on Admissions and Grievances.

Craig received his J.D., cum laude, from Cornell Law School in 2004 and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Tufts University in 2001. He completed a clerkship with the Hon. Richard M. Berman in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He is admitted to practice in New York.
