Curtis R. Waldo is a senior associate within Reed Smith’s commercial litigation department and Life Sciences Health Industry Group. He has a broad-based commercial litigation practice with a particular emphasis on the healthcare and energy industries.

Curtis has experience representing businesses and individuals in a range of commercial disputes, including product liability, employment, and construction cases in courts and arbitrations throughout the country.

• Represented the manufacturer of female pelvic health products in lawsuits alleging post-implant injuries.
• Represents employer and plan administrator in ERISA denial of benefits action brought by healthcare provider; obtained favorable summary judgment ruling in District Court (including attorneys’ fees) and affirmance in Fifth Circuit.
• Represented chemical company in four-week arbitration hearing against engineering firm in dispute regarding construction of plant in Arkansas; obtained favorable award.
• Represents oilfield services company against breach of contract claims made by former executive, as well as trade secret theft claim brought against executive.
• Represented minority investors in health insurance company in negotiation of buyout with majority shareholders.
• Represented individual-homeowner against homeowners’ association lawsuit for unpaid HOA fees and attorneys’ fees; obtained successful dismissal, preventing foreclosure on individual’s home (pro bono).
• Represented generic pharmaceutical manufacturer in relation to claim that recalled product caused death of plaintiff’s son.
• Represented construction management firm in contesting freedom of information request made by client’s competitor for client’s bid; obtained ruling from Texas Attorney General’s Office denying competitor’s request.
