Dakota L. Kann is an associate in Venable’s Commercial Litigation Practice in the New York office. During law school, she served as a legal intern to the Honorable Patty Shwartz on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
In this role, Dakota assisted with both civil and criminal cases by conducting legal research on various issues, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Elections Clause, and contract disputes.
Dakota also served as a legal intern in the Mainzer Family Defense Field Clinic at the Bronx Defenders, where she helped represent parents in family court proceedings, and at Children’s Rights, where she assisted in class action litigation.
Prior to law school, Dakota served as an undergraduate research assistant for Professor Thomas M. Keck in the Political Science Department of Syracuse University, researching Supreme Court cases regarding free speech.
