He handled litigation matters in merger and non-merger cases in front of the federal court as well as administratively within the FTC. He led in investigations of pharmaceutical companies and healthcare providers. He also served as the FTC’s liaison to the Food and Drug Administration.
Under Litigation, he has experience in dealing with a broad spectrum of antitrust theories, including allegations concerning conspiracies, monopolization, intellectual property licensing, patent misuse, and mergers and acquisitions.
Attorney Kotchen is currently occupied with litigating several cases related to massive class action employment discrimination. A notable case alleges that defendants employed H-1B visa holders as a means of discriminating in favor of a particular race or national origin. He has the experience of representing clients before the Federal Trade Commission, Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Transportation, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and state attorneys general.
He has acquired the license to practice in both Washington DC and Wisconsin states in 2001 and 1998 respectively. He completed his Bachelor in Arts in 1993 from the College of Wooster. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1997. He has also done MBA from the University of Wisconsin.
He has acquired professional memberships of the American Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar, and the Wisconsin Bar. After gaining Government experience by working for the Federal Trade Commission, he served as an Associate at the law firm, Sadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, during the year 2001-2002.
