I am Dan Schlanger an attorney at law and the head of the consumer protection practice at Schlanger Law Group LLP (previously known as Kakalec & Schlanger, LLP). My area of practice is concentrated on class actions and other litigation with the goal of protecting consumers’ rights, as well as in cases of unjust collection practices, predatory lending, hidden fees, auto fraud, breach of warranty, usury, fraud and false advertising.
I constantly deal with cases tendered under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Truth In Lending Act, the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act and RICO. I also handle cases under the laws barring false advertising, deceptive consumer conduct, usury and other abuses.
I also possess substantial experience in providing representation to consumers in collection actions and actions involving credit card debt, medical billing, lines of credit, auto loans, home loans, personal guarantees and other loans/debts. I earned my Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from Harvard Law School. In 1994, I obtained my undergraduate degree from Carleton College, magna cum laude.
Before starting to work at Kakalec & Schlanger’s predecessor firm in 2007as a partner, I was a staff lawyer at the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland. At law school, I was a legal clerk for the Honorable R. Lanier Anderson, III on the 11th Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals.
I have had the profoundly awesome fortune of make my living from engaging in something I am strongly interested in: which is providing assistance to consumers who have been victims of unfair treatment or overly fierce practices.
