Daniel (Danny) R. Sturm is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP. He is a member of the Business Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice.Previously, Mr. Sturm was a summer associate with Foley, where he performed legal research, drafted memoranda on topics including insurance law, federal evidence rules, federal criminal restitution statutes, and contract disputes.
He also gained legal experience as a judicial extern with the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District in Los Angeles, where he reviewed pending case files and court filings, researched legal issues, and assisted in drafting final opinions for the honorable Justice John L. Segal.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Sturm held various roles, including serving as student affairs manager for the University of Pittsburgh – O’Hara Student Center and interning for Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium.
Education :
Mr. Sturm earned his law degree from UCLA School of Law (J.D., 2016), where he served as editor-in-chief of the National Black Law Journal and co-chair of the Black Law Student Association.
He was named as a recipient of Hufstedler, Miller, Kaus & Beardsley Scholarship, Albert and Judith Glickman Scholarship, and Henry and Emma DeGarmo Scholarship.
Mr. Sturm is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned a degree in biology, with a specialization in ecology and evolution (B.S., 2013), and minored in chemistry and legal studies.
During this time, he received honors including Dean’s List, University Honors, and Partners in Progress Scholar. Mr. Sturm served as a student researcher during his participation in a study abroad program in the Dutch Caribbean, where he conducted research on marine biology to determine the effectiveness of fish protected areas on the surrounding coral reefs.
In addition, he was a leadership team member of Ignite Intervarsity and a member of the Black Student Association.
