Darcy Shoop has been a leader in the development of Collaborative Practice in the Washington area since 2004. She is the founding and Past-President of Maryland Collaborative Practice Council – the state-wide umbrella organization for the advancement of Collaborative Practice, and she is the founding and Past-President of the Collaborative Divorce Association, Inc. – the first professional Collaborative Practice organization in Maryland. In 2011, Ms. Shoop was named Co-Chair of the then-newly established Collaborative Law Section of the Montgomery County Bar Association, which was the first Section of a Bar Association dedicated to Collaborative Law in Maryland, Virginia and D.C., and among one of the first in the country.
She has been quoted in the Washington Post Magazine, Bethesda Magazine, and in Collaborative Divorce Handbook – Helping Families Without Going to Court by Forrest Mosten. Ms. Shoop often is invited to speak on the topic of Collaborative Practice addressing Bar Associations, the University of Maryland School of Law, and Collaborative Practice groups and other professional organizations throughout the Washington and Baltimore Metropolitan areas.
