David B. Shapiro earned his J.D. Degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1992. He began his career defending the accused at the Salt Lake Legal Defender Association, where he worked for seven years as a trial attorney handling several thousand misdemeanor and felony cases.
David left the public defender office to work for an Internet software company in San Francisco. When he returned to Salt Lake City in 2001, he established his own practice focused exclusively on criminal defense and continued his work assisting clients facing all types of criminal charges in Juvenile, Justice, District and Federal Courts.
David was elected by his peers to serve as the President of the 500 member Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (UACDL) and has served as a Board Member or Officer of that organization for nearly a decade.
The non-profit organization is dedicated to promoting and protecting justice and is involved in educating attorneys so that they can better represent the accused. He is committed to improving the legal profession by protecting the rights of all citizens.
He is a graduate of the National Criminal Defense College in Macon, Georgia.
