David Byron Bice graduated from the University of Virginia in 1978 and the Cumberland School of Law in 1984. After a short term with Richmond and Fishburne in Charlottesville, he returned to Lynchburg, Virginia with his wife, Mary, to work with the Lynchburg Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office.
After a year, he began his private practice, which is primarily centered in family law, the collaborative practice model and civil litigation. He has remained active with the local bar serving as president of the young attorneys section and currently serving on the board of the Lynchburg Bar Association.
Originally appointed in 1986 as a special justice, he continues serve in that capacity. He is trained as a mediator, certified to practice under the collaborative practice model and is certified as an arbitrator with the Virginia State Bar and continues to limit his practice to that of family law.
