David J. Leffler has worked for over 30 years with small businesses to help them on their way to success through relevant and timely legal advice. He has worked with companies in a variety of industries, with a large segment focused on web based businesses.
Mr. Leffler has guided entrepreneurs and small businesses through some of the most critical moments in the life of their business operations. For example–he helps identify which is the best type of entity to choose to protect clients from liability, drafts shareholders’ agreement in such a way as to permit the founding shareholders to continue to control the company when taking on investors, and includes terms in a consulting agreement to make it more likely that his client will actually get what it thinks it will get when paying a business consultant.
It is Mr. Leffler’s goal to not only assist his clients in understanding all of the important legal issues in their business transactions, but also to move through the creation and negotiation of a legal document efficiently by focusing time and energy on substantive issues and not on peripheral points that will have no significant impact on a business transaction.
He has served on advisory boards and volunteered his services for many years to the American Woman’s Economic Development Corporation, a not for profit organization that provided training for women starting and growing their own businesses, and eventually joined their board of directors. For five years Mr. Leffler served as a judge for the New York StartUP! Business Plan Competition, held at the Science, Industry and Business Library of the New York Public Library and sponsored by Citi Foundation.
