Mr. David Waldroup was born in Dayton, Ohio and moved to the Atlanta area with his family in 1993. He was raised in Roswell, Georgia and attended Roswell High School. Mr. Waldroup received his Bachelor in Business Administration in finance, graduating first in his class at the University of Georgia.
He received the Woodruff Law Scholarship to continue his education at the University of Georgia Law School, where he graduated summa cum laude. While obtaining his Juris Doctor Degree, Mr. Waldroup was president of the UGA Christian Legal Society and worked as a teaching assistant for his Property professor.
He has also received a number of honors, including membership in the Order of the Coif, the Verner F. Chaffin Award for Excellence in Fiduciary Law, an award for Excellence in Civil Procedure and the Westlaw Award for Academic Excellence.
Mr. Waldroup began his legal practice with Smith, Welch & Brittain in August 2004 and became a partner at Smith, Welch & Brittain in January 2010. He joined Smith, Welch, Webb & White LLC in May of 2011 as a Manager.
His primary focus is in the area of Trusts and Estates, Corporate law, Church law, and Education law. His practice includes drafting wills, trusts, powers of attorney, living wills, and a variety of estate planning documents, probate and administration of estates, corporate and non-profit formation, business sales, contract drafting and negotiations, and counseling corporate executives.
He also represents a number of public school districts on a variety of issues, including special education, contractual, administrative and disciplinary matters.
Mr. Waldroup is a member of the Order of the Coif, Henry County Bar Association, and State Bar of Georgia – Fiduciary Law Section.
Mr. Waldroup is married to his wife, Angela, who also obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Georgia. Mr. Waldroup is active in his church and enjoys horseback riding, rollerblading, and a variety of other sports and outdoor activities.
