David McKinney focuses his practice on intellectual property with an emphasis on patent prosecution. His work includes drafting patent applications and patentability opinions, managing foreign patent applications and prosecuting patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
David also assists in managing patent portfolios and provides recommendations on how his clients can effectively protect their intellectual property.
David taps into his background in mechanical engineering and technical sales to understand his clients’ technologies and mechanical innovations, including industrial machinery, software and telecommunications products, furniture, toys and apparel.
He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Kansas State University, and before attending law school, he served for several years as a sales engineer at a manufacturing company’s flow-measurement division.
David also worked as a patent engineer at a robotics company, where he prepared a preliminary patent for a sky-camera.
