Dawn Solowey is senior counsel in the Labor & Employment Department in the Boston office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. Ms. Solowey is an experienced litigator who represents management clients in labor and employment litigation in federal and state courts, in arbitration, and in the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and equivalent state agencies.
Ms. Solowey has particular expertise in employment law trials and appeals. She has successfully tried many cases in federal and state courts. Ms. Solowey’s recent jury trials have involved defending claims of discrimination, retaliation, failure to accommodate religious practice, and defamation, to complete defense verdicts.
Ms. Solowey has published numerous articles on many aspects of trial practice. Ms. Solowey, a member of Seyfarth’s Appellate Team, has significant experience representing employers in high-stakes appeals and post-trial motions in federal and state courts around the country.
She successfully argued a seminal Sarbanes-Oxley whistleblower retaliation case in the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and has handled federal and state appeals in numerous jurisdictions involving claims including discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower, defamation, and related tort and contract claims. Based on her trial experience, Ms. Solowey has particular expertise in challenging jury verdicts in post-trial motions and on appeal.
Ms. Solowey has extensive experience advising clients regarding a wide range of personnel and workplace issues. She has completed all of the courses which comprised Seyfarth’s Retail University and she is now a certified member of Seyfarth’s Retail Industry Client Team. Ms. Solowey has significant experience in defending defamation claims, both in employment litigation and in libel litigation against newspaper and television clients.
