Dean Lindsay Chapman Jr.

Dean Lindsay Chapman Jr.’s practice focuses on litigation. Mr. Chapman’s experience includes a variety of complex commercial litigation, including financial restructuring and securities matters, as well as arbitration and government investigation matters.Mr. Chapman is currently a member of the New York office’s diversity and hiring committees.

Mr. Chapman received his B.A. in economics and political science in 2004 from Duke University and his J.D. in 2008 from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and a staff member of the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law. He has also worked as an intern in the chambers of the Honorable Laura Taylor Swain of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Representative Work:

• Mr. Chapman’s recent representations include advising:
  • a variety of special loan servicers looking to foreclose upon commercial and residential properties.
  • a major financial institution named in a multidistrict class action alleged to have violated the antitrust laws
  • a former MF Global executive named as a defendant in various civil class action proceedings arising under the securities and commodities laws
  • a major international logistics company alleged to have committed a fraudulent transfer in connection with an out-of-court financial restructuring
  • a bankruptcy trustee asserting a $1.6 billion claim in the General Motors bankruptcy
  • a former CEO of a major American corporation involved in an employment termination arbitration
  • various financial services firms under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission
