Dean Googasian graduated from Wayne State University Law School in 1997, where he was ranked first in his class and served as editor in chief of the Wayne Law Review. He received numerous scholarships and awards during law school.
Before graduating summa cum laude from Wayne (J.D., 1997), Dean attended the University of Michigan (B.A. 1992). Following law school, Dean served as a law clerk to Michigan Supreme Court Justice Marilyn Jean Kelly.
Dean then headed to Washington, D.C. where he served as Special Assistant to the Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Criminal Division of the United States Department of Justice. During his time at Justice, Dean received the United States Department of Justice Special Achievement Award for Meritorious Acts or Service at the Justice Department.
Dean returned to Michigan and practiced commercial litigation at a large Detroit firm before joining The Googasian Firm, P.C. in 2001.
Dean received the 2007 Distinguished Brief Award from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School for a brief submitted to the Michigan Supreme Court on behalf of the State Bar of Michigan. The Distinguished Brief Award is given to the most scholarly briefs filed in the Michigan Supreme Court as determined by a panel of eminent jurists.
