Deirdre Murphy is counsel in the Business Immigration Group of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s Boston office. She is licensed as a solicitor in England and Wales (2006) and Ireland (2016), and admitted as an attorney in New York (2011). Ms. Murphy specializes in the practice of U.K. and Irish immigration law, having gained substantial experience working with leading law firms in London for the majority of her career.
Ms. Murphy is responsible for the successful delivery of U.K. and Irish immigration services for the firm’s corporate and individual clients. She counsels top-tier, multinational companies on all aspects of U.K. and Irish business immigration matters, providing strategic advice to manage their global mobility needs in these jurisdictions.
In the context of Brexit, Ms. Murphy works closely with clients to assess the potential impact on their current workforce and future recruitment needs. She advises corporate and individual clients on the steps to prepare for the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union. Ms. Murphy has devised a Brexit Toolkit to guide clients through this process, amidst the ongoing uncertainty and UK-EU negotiations.
Ms. Murphy also assists clients with complex personal immigration matters and routinely manages applications for individuals to obtain visitor visas, permanent residence status and citizenship.
Ms. Murphy is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales, Law Society of Ireland, American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association (ILPA), and the New York State Bar Association. She is a regular contributor to immigration articles and client alerts, and she delivers training seminars and information updates to clients and other organizations.
