
Derek Donahoe knows technology. As a practiced electrical engineer and patent attorney, Mr. Donahoe prepares and prosecutes patents and provides integral counsel on the management of both United States and international patent portfolios for many Fortune 500 companies.
This includes all phases of writing and prosecuting complex patent applications in a variety of technical fields, including networking technology, multi-core processing, e-commerce, alternative energy, internet-related technology, software, and wireless/satellite communications.
Mr. Donahoe works with the clients he serves to craft a comprehensive and solid protection for their intellectual property, and his clients rely on him for his keen insights of intellectual property law.
Whether through preparation of provisional and non-provisional patent applications, non-infringement and invalidity opinions, or defense of patent rights through patent litigation, Mr. Donahoe strives to develop lasting relationships with clients to provide them with the best possible service in line with the each client’s individual needs.
In his previous career, Mr. Donahoe worked as an electrical engineer for the Naval Research Laboratory and MCI/Worldcom, gaining extensive experience in networking and signaling technologies for one of the largest telecommunications networks in the world and the United States Navy.
Mr. Donahoe has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Utah State University and a Juris Doctor from the Sturm College of Law of the University of Denver.
He is admitted to the bars of the State of Massachusetts and the State of Colorado. Mr. Donahoe is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
