Edward B. Havas

Well respected among Edward B. Havas peers and recognized as a top trial lawyer, Edward Havas (Ed), President and a founding member of Dewsnup, King & Olsen, focuses his practice on representing survivors and families of victims in negligence, product liability, air crash, mining disaster (such as the deadly Crandall Canyon coal mine collapse of 2007), medical malpractice and other catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases.

His professional experience is rounded out by numerous relevant activities, which include being Vice President of The Brain Injury Alliance of Utah, chairing medical malpractice pre-litigation panels, and acting as an arbitrator in medical malpractice and injury cases. He is listed on the U.S. District Court’s approved panel of mediators, where he volunteers his time to mediate federal cases.

His legal experience is extensive at many levels. For nearly 30 years, Mr. Havas has served as volunteer judge pro tem in Salt Lake and Davis Counties, sitting monthly to hear small claims court cases. He currently serves on the Utah Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee on the Rules of Evidence. He has published articles, spoken at seminars and other presentations on legal matters, and has been actively involved in legislative affairs to preserve the civil justice system and access to the courts.
