Edward B. Poitevent II focuses his practice on all phases of domestic and international energy/mineral law and natural resources law. He has served as counsel to a wide range of interests in the energy industry, with an emphasis on exploration and production companies, pipeline companies, independent power producers and royalty owners.
His representations cover virtually every aspect of legal and regulatory matters affecting energy exploration, production, sales, transmission, refining and use.

Professional and Civic Activities:
Mr. Poitevent has been a member of the American Association of Petroleum Landmen and served as Co-Chair of its Model Form Gas Balancing Agreement Committee. He has been a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators’ Model Form Farmout Agreement Committee and Model Form International Unitization and Unit Operating Agreement Committee.
He is a former Council Member of the American Bar Association’s Section of Environmental, Energy and Natural Resources Law, a former Trustee of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and Eastern Mineral Law Foundation and a former member of the Louisiana Mineral Institute governing body.
Mr. Poitevent was the President of the Leukemia Society of America, Inc., Louisiana Chapter from 1990-1991. He was formerly a member of the Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans and served on its Board of Directors from 1984-1990. He is also a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association.
