Since joining Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin in 1993, Edward J. McGinn Jr. has devoted his practice to the defense of product liability matters, with particular emphasis on automobiles, motorcycles, ATVs, forklifts, scissor lifts, and other industrial and commercial equipment and products.
As the chair of the Construction Injury Practice Group, Ed defends a broad range of construction injury claims including accidents from scaffold falls, heavy equipment, electrical injuries, burns and construction vehicles.
In his construction practice he also handles cases involving complex issues involving insurance coverage and serious losses, including catastrophic injury and death in the areas of construction accidents and construction defects.
Ed regularly represents construction management companies, developers, property owners, general contractors and other construction professionals.
Ed represents aerial lift rental companies, contractors and manufacturers of various industrial products. He is most frequently asked to defend catastrophic personal injury cases. These cases typically involve construction-related accidents and product liability claims. He also handles general negligence claims.
In 1998, Ed received his Master’s Degree in Trial Advocacy with honors from the Temple University School of Law. He has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer for 2006 and 2008-2017 in the area of civil litigation defense.
Ed is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. Following graduation from Notre Dame in 1981, he attended Duquesne University School of Law. Ed graduated in the top 25 percent of his class and received his juris doctor in 1984.
He started his career with the defense litigation firm of Liebert, Short, FitzPatrick and Lavin, where he developed extensive experience in a wide range of casualty defense matters, with particular emphasis on the defense of product liability claims.
