
Edward J. Karlin, a partner in the Corporate and Finance Practice Group of Seyfarth Shaw LLP, has more than 30 years of experience representing corporate clients across a broad spectrum of industries in a wide range of business transactions. Mr. Karlin is also a principal of the firm’s Hong Kong office, Seyfarth Shaw, a registered foreign law firm, which is in Association with Wong, Wan & Partners, a firm of Hong Kong solicitors.
Mr. Karlin focuses his practice in the areas of Mergers and Acquisitions, commercial transactions, lending transactions, and board governance issues. Mr. Karlin provides counsel to various business organizations including corporations, partnerships, not-for-profit entities and municipal organizations.
He also represents financial organizations, including bank holding companies, banks, savings and loan holding companies and savings and loans before federal and state regulatory agencies. Mr. Karlin is a frequent lecturer on corporate governance issues and has also served as Chairman of the Firm’s national Business Services Department and a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee.
Mr. Karlin also has trial experience before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, and appellate experience before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the Appellate Court of the State of Illinois.
