Edward W. Allred started the firm’s commercial and business law section in 2005, and currently manages that section. He received his Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University in 1990. While at Texas A&M, Mr. Allred received numerous awards and recognitions for his academics, leadership, and involvement.
He was a member of the Corps of Cadets, the Ross Volunteer Company and its Color Guard, and a Co-Chairman of Texas A&M’s Fish Camp program. He was a member of the Dean’s List, and was awarded the coveted Buck Weirus Spirit Award for his contributions through leadership in student organizations, Aggie traditions, and university events. Mr Allred was elected by the Texas A&M student body to serve as a Yell Leader.
After graduation, Mr. Allred was commissioned in the United States Air Force as a pilot candidate. As a result of Operation Desert Storm’s costs and the reduction of military forces, Mr. Allred resigned his commission and became a project engineer on the project that added five new buildings to MD Anderson in the Houston Medical Center.
During law school, Mr. Allred was a law journal author and editor, and was recognized as the Outstanding First, Second, and Third Year Student. He graduated in the top five percent of his class. After graduation, he worked for Judge Emilio Garza at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, prior to entering private law practice.
After his federal clerkship, Mr. Allred became an associate in the San Antonio law firm of Groce, Locke & Hebdon, which merged into a larger national law firm. He later worked at the international law firm of Baker & McKenzie.
At these large firms, he gained substantial litigation experience in significant and complex matters for corporate clients. He defended national and international class action cases for Fortune 500 companies, as well as handled employment, construction, and business transaction lawsuits for large and small corporate entities.
