Elissa Kerr focuses her practice on professional liability litigation, specifically the defense of long-term healthcare facilities and medical professionals. Other areas of experience include insurance coverage litigation.
Elissa’s clients can expect a commitment to providing zealous representation throughout all stages of litigation. Clients can also be sure that Elissa will take a detail-oriented, reasoned approach, putting the client in the most advantageous position possible.
Prior to joining Buchanan, Elissa worked as in-house counsel for an insurance company in Miami, Florida where she represented her client in breach of contract claims and coverage disputes. While there, she defended her clients’ interests at motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, mediations, arbitrations and depositions.
While in law school, Elissa was a member of the Journal of College and University Law. She was also a legal intern for the Economic Justice and Community Development Clinics where she defended clients against predatory lending practices and aided local nonprofit organizations in securing 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
