Elizabeth Barry Heddleston is a member of the firm’s Health Law and Business and Corporate practice groups. Her focus includes corporate, administrative, regulatory, and transactional matters within health law.

She advises hospitals, physicians, physician group practices, long-term care facilities, and other healthcare providers on compliance issues and other regulatory matters.

A Bethesda, Md. native, Liz began her career at Woods Rogers as a summer associate in 2014 and joined the firm as an associate in 2015. Prior to pursuing a law degree, Liz worked as a journalist for five years at The News & Advance in Lynchburg, Va., where she earned state and national awards for her writing and reporting.

Liz graduated from Davidson College with a B.A. in English. She earned her law degree from William & Mary Law School, where she graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif. During law school, Liz completed a summer internship with the Supreme Court of Virginia, Office of Chief Staff Attorney.

She was a member of William & Mary Law Review, a fellow for the Center for Legal & Court Technology, and an executive board member of the Environmental Law Society. She also participated in William & Mary’s Special Education Advocacy Clinic, where she assisted special-needs children and their families with eligibility for special education services, discipline matters, and guardianship issues.

Upon graduation, she received the Special Education Advocacy Award for her outstanding service to special-needs children and the Legal Practice Scholar Award for professionalism and excellence in legal research and writing.
