Elizabeth Scott represents manufacturers and long-term care providers in personal injury, products liability, business, fiduciary, environmental and insurance coverage disputes. In addition to her role as a trial lawyer, she is certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission to mediate civil suits and serves as a mediator in cases pending before the North Carolina state courts, the Industrial Commission and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina.
Clients can benefit from the negotiation skills she has developed through her years of service as both a client advocate and mediator. Elizabeth is especially qualified to assist clients seeking arbitration, mediation, and other cost-efficient alternatives to the standard jury trial.
She was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 1986, and she is admitted to practice in all three U.S. District Courts for the state of North Carolina, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. She is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, serving on the Minorities in the Profession Committee from 2006 through 2009, and as a past co-chair of the Litigation Section Council Ethics Committee.
She is a member of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, the Defense Research Institute (Products Liability, Insurance Law and Trucking Law committees) and past member of the North Carolina District Export Council. Elizabeth also serves on the North Carolina Equal Access to Justice Commission.
Elizabeth received her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and clerked on both the North Carolina Court of Appeals and Supreme Court before joining Williams Mullen.
