Elizabeth A. Lee defends companies in product liability actions centered on a range of subjects, including smoking-and-health cases and personal care products claims. She also defends companies in class actions concerning California’s unfair competition and false advertising laws, which involve underlying issues ranging from food and beverage labeling to labor and employment claims.
Her work includes drafting jurisdictional, evidentiary and dispositive motions, preparing written discovery requests and responses, and researching and writing on procedural, evidentiary and substantive issues. Elizabeth also represents insurance companies in breach of contract actions.
Elizabeth’s information governance and electronic discovery experience includes analysis of ethics rules relating to data remediation efforts, updates to corporate records retention and disposition polices, and analysis of potential causes of action against spammers.
Elizabeth honed her writing and editing skills in law school, where she earned recognition—and, later, a position as a teaching assistant—in UC Hastings’ first-year moot court and legal writing and research courses.
She also served as the executive notes editor of the Hastings Law Journal, which published her article on the U.S. Supreme Court’s limit on the definition of “supervisor” and the decision’s effect on harassment and discrimination claims under Title VII.
Since joining Shook, Elizabeth has continued to develop her writing skills, most recently co-authoring a chapter on food and beverage class actions for the American Bar Association’s A Practitioner’s Guide to Class Actions.
Elizabeth is a member of the Asian American Bar Association and is also committed to Shook’s pro bono efforts and outside community service. She has been a volunteer with RAD (Rising Above Disabilities) Camp since 2008 and was recently appointed chair of the organization’s Junior Board of Directors.
