Emily R. Apte is an associate in the Government Matters Practice Group at King & Spalding. Her practice focuses on government and internal investigations, as well as complex civil and criminal litigation.
Ms. Apte works with clients in the areas of white-collar criminal defense, government and corporate internal investigations, and disputes ranging from complex mass torts to trademark infringement.
Her experience also includes defending and counseling corporate clients and individuals facing government investigations conducted by various divisions of the Department of Justice, the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, the Federal Trade Commission, Treasury, and investigative committees of the U.S. Congress. Ms. Apte also devotes a significant portion of her time to pro bono work and philanthropy, with a focus on representing victims of domestic violence and children.
Prior to joining King & Spalding, Ms. Apte worked at the White House as Associate Director in the Office of Presidential Speechwriting. She also worked at the U.S. Department of Education in Congressional and Legislative Affairs.
In addition, Ms. Apte spent over three years in Uganda, where she worked with multiple international and local organizations on business development and worked with a local community to found a nonprofit organization focused on education and economic development.
