Emily R. Brown is an Associate at Hughes Socol Piers Resnick & Dym, Ltd. Ms. Brown represents clients in state and federal court in a broad range of complex litigation matters, with a concentration in the areas of civil rights, constitutional litigation, and labor and employment. She joined the firm in 2019.
Ms. Brown served as a law clerk for the Honorable Milton Shadur on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and worked on criminal justice reform and housing initiatives as a Polikoff-Gautreaux Fellow at BPI. Prior to joining Hughes Socol, she represented consumers and sexual assault victims at a national plaintiffs’ firm.
Ms. Brown graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School, where she served as a Student Attorney in the Michigan Innocence Clinic and Note Editor for the Michigan Journal of Law Reform.
During law school, she interned at Community Legal Services of Philadelphia, the Capital Habeas Unit of the Federal Community Defender for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the AIRE Center, an international human rights organization in London.
Prior to law school, Ms. Brown interned at the Southern Poverty Law Center and worked for a civil rights law firm in Chicago. Ms. Brown is a member of the bar in Illinois.
