Emily Coody Marks

Mrs. Marks is a partner in the firm’s Montgomery office who specializes in labor and employment law, civil rights law, and appellate practice. Her practice consists of advising, consulting, and representing employers against claims or matters involving the 1st, 4th, 5th, 8th, 11th, and 14th Amendments to the United States Constitution, matters involving Title VII, the ADA, ADEA, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, Section 1983, and Section 1981.

Mrs. Marks also regularly advises, counsels and represents her employer clients in matters such as Drug Testing, OWBPA, COBRA, HIPAA, the WARN Act, USERRA, FMLA, co-employment issues and FLSA. Her practice also consists of defending employers against EEOC Charges of Discrimination.

Mrs. Marks graduated from Spring Hill College earning her Bachelor of Arts degree, with a magna cum laude distinction. While in law school, she was a member of the John A. Campbell Moot Court Board, Bench and Bar Society, and served as Associate Editor of the Law and Psychology review.

Mrs. Marks is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Alabama, as well as the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a former President of the Montgomery Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, has been appointed by the chief U.S. District Court Judge to serve as the chair of the committee to rewrite the Jury Questionnaire in the Middle District of Alabama, served as Chair of the Volunteer Lawyers Program for the Alabama State Bar, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Federal Defenders Program.
