
Emily Turbiak’s professional training as a Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified Public Accountant in Michigan enables her to bring acute investigative and analytical skills to her work as a commercial litigator and member of internal investigations and financial regulatory defense teams.
Emily’s client-first strategic mindset incorporates her experience in fraud detection and investigation, financial statement analysis, complex data analysis, financial modeling, quantification of economic damages in commercial disputes, and lost profit calculations. Her litigation and investigations experience spans publicly held and private companies, and individuals, in the automotive, healthcare, construction and accounting industries.
Emily’s complex litigation experience includes serving as lead counsel for a national print and internet advertiser in actions involving the enforcement of contracts and defending against contract and business tort claims. She has counseled and represented clients on the application of the Uniform Commercial Code and contract law. Emily has particular experience in the areas of contract disputes, business torts, employment issues, and non-competition agreements. In the federal and state tax areas, Emily has experience in tax appeals, audits, controversies, and litigation. She has represented individuals, small businesses, and major corporations in tax and general business matters. Emily’s successes in IRS disputes includes successfully negotiating a no tax-liability determination.
