Emily Shu is a member of Alston & Bird’s Intellectual Property Patents – Electrical & Computer Science Group. She has experience in patent portfolio management, IP rights protection, patent analysis and patent prosecution. Emily has defended numerous patent assertions from nonpracticing entities and licensors with invalidity and noninfringement analysis.
She has also drafted hundreds of U.S. and Patent Cooperation Treaty applications, office action responses and appeals in semiconductor, display and other electronics fields.
She has research experience in semiconductor materials and process development, as well as optical imaging and solid state lasers. She received her Ph.D. and M.S. in physics from Columbia University and has published more than 25 articles in various science and technology journals.
