Eric G. Ruehe is an associate in the Labor & Employment department of Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s San Francisco office. His practice focuses on all aspects of labor and employment litigation, including wage and hour, discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination cases, and complex arbitrations. He represents employers in single-plaintiff, multi-plaintiff, and class action cases.
Mr. Ruehe has significant experience litigating cases in federal court, state court, state administrative agencies, and domestic and international arbitration. His experience encompasses all phases of litigation, including arguing dispositive motions, taking depositions, and defending depositions.
Mr. Ruehe has successfully compelled arbitration of putative class actions and successfully defended employers in single-plaintiff arbitrations He has successfully obtained summary judgment and court-ordered dismissals for his clients. Mr. Ruehe has also been part of multiple successful mediations, where he has negotiated favorable results for his clients.
Before joining Seyfarth Shaw LLP, Mr. Ruehe was an attorney at a major international law firm where he compelled arbitration of a 40,000 member putative class action before Judge White in the Northern District of California and subsequently managed 150+ arbitrations.
In law school, Mr. Ruehe was a certified law clerk with the Federal Public Defender and Santa Clara County Public Defender. He personally represented indigent citizens at pre-trial hearings, negotiated plea agreements and argued motions to dismiss evidence. Mr. Ruehe was a member of his law school’s honors moot court team where he was a semi-finalist at the Pace International Criminal Law Competition, and earned runner-up honors for best appellate brief and oral argument.
Mr. Ruehe was also a research assistant for Professor Pratheepam Gulasekaram where he assisted in the publication of Why a Wall?, 2 U.C. Irvine L. Rev. 147 (2012). In college, Mr. Ruehe was a member of the Political Science Honors Society and served as an intern for the Office of United States Senator, Barbara Boxer.
