
Frederick S. Gold is Chair of the firm’s Corporate and Financial Litigation Practice. He is a graduate of Tufts University (Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude) and Columbia Law School. He practices in the area of complex business litigation, with an emphasis on financial services clients and intellectual property matters.
He has represented hedge funds, broker-dealers, lenders, investment partnerships, investors, real estate developers, universities, and public and closely held corporations in matters involving financing agreements, securities claims, antitrust, civil RICO, unfair competition, breach of fiduciary duty, complex foreclosures and restructurings, negotiable instruments, management of institutional funds, lender liability, complex contract disputes, and claims involving software, source code, trade secrets and copyrights.
He has extensive trial and appellate experience in state and federal courts and in private arbitrations and mediations. He has represented clients in domestic and international arbitrations, under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, JAMS, the London Court of International Arbitration, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, and the International Chamber of Commerce.
Since 1996, Fred has been an adjunct member of the faculty at Yale Law School, where he has taught Trial Practice and Civil Litigation Practice. He has been a frequent faculty member at regional advocacy programs offered by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.
From 1994 through 2005, he was chair of the Connecticut Trial Advocacy Institute co-sponsored by the Connecticut Bar Association and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.
Fred has been consistently ranked since 2010 in Chambers USA, a pre-eminent guide to the legal profession in the United States. Chambers recently quoted sources who described watching Fred in action as being “like watching litigation on a TV show; you could literally sell tickets to the event.”
Fred is also one of nine attorneys nationwide invited to contribute to Inside the Minds – Strategies for Successful Mediation: Leading Lawyers on Understanding Client Goals, Communicating Effectively, and Facilitating an Agreement, which was published by Aspatore Press, a Thomson Reuters Publisher.
