Frederick Salvo is an experienced litigator who represents clients in a number of industries including financial services, real estate, health care and insurance. Mr. Salvo is a shareholder in the Jackson, Mississippi, office of Baker Donelson.
He regularly represents mortgage lenders, servicers and related financial institutions in a variety of litigation throughout Mississippi including the defense of statutory claims under the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), the Mississippi Consumer Protection Act and the Mississippi Uniform Trade Secrets Act as well as common law claims of predatory lending, mortgage fraud, forgery, failure to procure insurance, misapplication of insurance proceeds and deceptive sales practices.
He also has significant experience negotiating loan workout and modification agreements, short sales and in representing businesses in litigation involving the enforcement of non-compete and non-disclosure agreements and the protection of business assets and trade secrets.
In addition, he regularly represents title insurers in defalcation matters involving the misappropriation of escrow and other funds and related regulatory, criminal and bankruptcy proceedings. He also represents insured lenders and owners in litigation involving lien priority issues, easements, reformation actions and related title curative matters as well as in related recoupment litigation.
Mr. Salvo also frequently represents owners, property management firms and related parties in the multi-family housing industry in the defense of a broad range of premises liability claims involving allegations of inadequate security, dangerous or hazardous conditions as well as claims arising out of the criminal acts of third parties including assaults, burglaries, armed robberies, aggravated assault and homicide.
He also represents property owners and managers in disputes with various other parties including contractors and vendors and provides counsel regarding risk management and mitigation efforts.
Mr. Salvo clerked under Chief United States Magistrate Judge John M. Roper, Sr. from 2001 to 2002, completed an internship with United States Magistrate Judge S. Allan Alexander in 2000 and 2001, was Associate Notes and Comments Editor of the Mississippi Law Journal and served on the Moot Court Board.

Representative Matters:
- Obtained the dismissal of mortgage fraud claims against mortgage lending and servicing firms in suits by homeowners regarding the purchase of multiple residential properties.
- Defended pharmacy and pharmacy technician in medical malpractice claim related to allegedly misfilled prescription.
- Defended health care rehabilitation professional in matter related to malpractice claim alleged by patient after catastrophic injury.
- Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a property management firm in a premises liability suit alleging inadequate security.
- Represented a property management firm in a suit by a tenant alleging inadequate repairs to multi-family housing unit caused assault. A favorable settlement was obtained after depositions of adverse expert witnesses.
- Resolved a dispute between the client manufacturing firm and the seller of a business regarding funds owed under the earn out provisions of an asset purchase agreement.
