G. Calvin Hayes represents clients in significant complex litigation matters, class actions, corporate governance issues, estates and trusts disputes, and False Claims Act / Qui Tam matters. He is also a member of the firm’s Cybersecurity and Data Protection team where he advises clients regarding data security issues.
His litigation experience includes representing clients in state and federal court, administrative hearings and in arbitrations. He has served as a federal court selected and appointed arbitrator. He has represented clients in state and federal government investigations, as well as internal investigations. Calvin also has conducted electronic data breach investigations and multi-state notifications.
Calvin has litigated statewide, multi-state, multi-district (MDL), and national class actions. He has defended class actions involving fraud, false advertising, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the state equivalent, Fair Credit Reporting Act, deceptive and unfair trade practices acts, securities, sales tax, breach of contract, privacy statutes, credit and lending practices, antitrust, mass torts, toxic substance exposure.
Calvin’s practice has often involved representing healthcare entities, financial service institutions and their officers and directors, as well as wireless telecommunication service providers.
Calvin authored the “Florida Chapter” in A Practitioner’s Guide to Class Actions, a best selling book published by the American Bar Association’s Tort, Trial and Insurance section.
He currently serves as Co-Chair of the Mass Torts Subcommittee of the ABA Class Actions and Derivative Suits Committee
