Garrett H. Anderson is an intellectual property associate in the San Diego office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Garrett’s practice focuses on strategic intellectual property counseling and patent prosecution in the life sciences. He has particular expertise in IP related to molecular biology, transgenic plants, immunology, genetics, molecular diagnostics, biofuels, stem cell technology, and small molecule pharmaceuticals.
In addition to drafting and prosecuting client IP, he has counseled clients regarding portfolio procurement and patent landscape issues in the U.S. and internationally, and performed finance-related diligence analyses. His clients have ranged from San Diego and Bay Area biotech start-ups and academic research institutions to major biotech and pharmaceutical companies.
Prior to joining Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, Garrett worked as an associate at the patent boutique Knobbe Martens Olson and Bear. He previously worked as a post-doctoral research associate at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, California, where his work focused on cancer-related cell cycle regulation, cell growth regulation, and algal biofuels models.
His doctoral work focused on plant cell growth and cell differentiation regulation by the TOR cell signaling pathway. He also worked as an English teacher and a National Park Consultant’s assistant in the People’s Republic of China.
