Garrett B. Bickford is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP. He is a member of the firm’s Mechanical & Electromechanical Technologies Practice.Garrett focuses his practice on preparing and prosecuting domestic and foreign patent applications, analyzing matters of patentability and clearance, drafting freedom to operate opinions, and providing technical support for patent litigation.
Prior to joining Foley, Garrett worked as a patent attorney at another Wisconsin-based national law firm, where he wrote provisional and non-provisional patents, prosecuted patent applications, drafted IPR petitions, provided substantive litigation support, and drafted freedom to operate and invalidity opinions.
Prior to entering patent law, he worked briefly as a product design engineer for a large pump manufacturer.
Education :
Garrett earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from Marquette University Law School (J.D., 2017). He was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for constitutional criminal procedure, as well as trademarks & unfair competition.
Garrett earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison (B.S., 2014), where he majored in mechanical engineering.
