Except for three years as a senior member of Cozen O’Connor, Gerald M. Hatfield has spent most of his career with Fox Rothschild, four years as an associate and 17 years as a partner. His prior experience also includes working as a Trust Officer for Mellon Bank.
Gerry is a frequent speaker, having presented on such topics as family limited partnerships, sophisticated use of disclaimers, post-mortem tax planning, the Federal estate and Generation-Skipping Transfer taxes and the repeal of such taxes in 2010. He has lectured to various insurance and financial planning groups on the Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax and related planning.
He has also authored several pieces, including “Current Drafting Techniques for Qualified Subchapter S Trusts,” published in the Journal of S Corporation Taxation and “Lower Higher Education Costs: Parents Can Consider Using a 529 Plan To Save Now for College Expenses,” published in The Legal Intelligencer.
He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, where he belongs to the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section, and a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, where he has served on the executive committee of its Probate Section. He is also a member of the Philadelphia County Estate Planning Council.
