
Gerry Nowotny is a tax and estate planning attorney. Gerry is the managing partner of the Law Office of Gerald R. Nowotny. He is also “Of Counsel”to Horowitz and Rubenstein, LLC of Long Island.
Gerry has a JD and LL.M in estate planning from the University of Miami School of Law. He has his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy. He served on active duty for five years and left the service as a Captain. Since then he has earned his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designations. He speaks Spanish and Portuguese at the highest level for a non-native speaker.
Gerry has developed a national reputation in certain niche tax planning strategies such as private placement insurance products. He is well published in tax and estate planning periodicals. His series of articles on the use of offshore trusts in Rabbi Trust planning for non-qualified deferred compensation was cited in the Joint Committee of Taxation Report on IRC Sec 409A which eliminated the use of offshore Rabbi trusts.
Gerry was awarded a JD Supra Readers’ Choice Award which recognizes excellent readership and thought leadership. The award recognized 200 writers from among 34,000 that published with JD Supra in 2015.
