E. Gerald Riesenbach has a comprehensive background resulting from many years of experience representing businesses, both public and privately owned, in and outside the health care industry, including mergers and acquisitions, public offerings of debt, and equity securities. He has also represented many senior executives of public and private companies in the negotiation of their employment or severance arrangements.
Jerry’s health care experience includes representation of nonprofit and for-profit hospitals, nursing homes and other health care providers, health care consulting and management companies, HMOs, health care lenders and investment bankers, home health agencies, and other individuals and businesses associated with the health care industry.
He has had broad experience in tax exempt financing of health care and life care institutions and in mergers and acquisitions of nonprofit hospitals. Throughout his career, Jerry has served in leadership positions in community and professional organizations.
Although remaining on the board, he recently stepped down after nine years as chair of the Philadelphia Theatre Company, having previously served four years as the company’s president.
He was a vice president of the University of Pennsylvania Alumni organization (Penn Alumni), and president of the Alumni Class Leadership Council of the University. For his service to the university, he is a recipient of the University of Pennsylvania’s Alumni Award of Merit.
He also served as a member of the board of directors of the Freedoms Foundation Valley Forge, on the Arts Advisory Council of the Avenue of the Arts, Inc., as a vice chairman of the board of trustees of Albert Einstein Medical Center, as a board member of Albert Einstein Healthcare Foundation and as Chairman of the Willowcrest-Bamberger division of Albert Einstein Medical Center.
He was a board member of the Hospital Trustee Association of Pennsylvania and as a member of the board of trustees of Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine and of Martin’s Run Lifecare Community. He formerly served as board member of the Arts and Business Council of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and as president of the Philadelphia Jaycees.
Jerry received his undergraduate degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law, where he was an editor of the Law Review.
