Gershon Akerman

Gershon Akerman is an attorney in the New York office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP and a member of the Commercial Litigation practice group. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, tax lien and commercial mortgage foreclosure actions, commercial real estate litigation, bankruptcy, and creditors’ rights.

Before joining Seyfarth, Mr. Akerman gained experience in civil litigation focusing on premises liability and construction-related accident defense. During his first summer in law school, Mr. Akerman worked as a summer intern at the New York Center for Law and Justice, an organization dedicated to providing legal services to the New York deaf community.

Mr. Akerman also completed Cardozo’s Intensive Trial Advocacy Program (ITAP), an intensive, two-week course, at which he received extensive trial-related litigation training from numerous nationally recognized practitioners and judges.

In his third year at Cardozo, Mr. Akerman was competitively selected by Cardozo faculty committee to serve as an Alexander Fellow, whereby he worked as a junior clerk for a full semester in the chambers of the Honorable Roslynn R. Mauskopf, United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. While at Cardozo, Mr. Akerman served as an Articles Editor on the Cardozo Law Review.
