
Guan Hua Kui focuses her practice on trademark, copyright and patents. Ms. Kui has significant experience in providing global trademark portfolio counseling for Fortune500 companies, including leading consumer retail, life sciences, education, beauty, technology, hospitality and logistics companies. She regularly advises clients on international trademark clearance, portfolio management, and enforcement matters.
Ms. Kui has worked in Beijing and Vancouver and is fluent in Mandarin. She has experience in matters before various Chinese trademark authorities, including the China Trademark Office, Trademark Review and Adjudication Board and IP court. She has created and cleared trademarks in both English and Chinese, has counseled clients on issues relating to Alibaba, Taobao and Wechat and has obtained favorable opposition decisions for clients.
Ms. Kui has secured copyright registrations for various clients in China and has experience in working with Chinese and Hong Kong Customs in customs recordal and seizure. Ms. Kui has drafted more than one hundred demand letters for domain take downs and has experience in bringing AIC raid actions for seizure of unauthorized goods.
Ms. Kui has successfully negotiated with numerous unauthorized trademark users which resulted in favorable outcomes for various clients in China. With her language, cultural, and science background, she can effectively assist clients in their international trademark portfolio management.
Ms. Kui devotes considerable time to pro bono work. She assists start-up companies in obtaining trademark registrations domestically and actively participates in NYLAG pro bono clinics.
