Hector A. Agdeppa is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the firm’s San Diego (Del Mar) office. Mr. Agdeppa specializes in patent application drafting and prosecution in the electrical, mechanical, and computer software arts, as well as client counseling and managing patent portfolios.
He also has experience in inter partes review proceedings, drafting and negotiating joint development agreements, preparing opinions and freedom to operate assessments, and patent litigation support for a variety of clients, large and small, covering a broad range of industries.
His technical experience encompasses wireless communications and data networking including various aspects of LTE baseband processing, carrier aggregation, adaptive modulation and coding schemes, shared antenna systems and frequency coexistence management, satellite networking involving committed information rate (CIR), bandwidth optimization, very-small-aperture terminal (VSAT) design, non-cellular wireless technologies including NFC and RFID, video coding and communication protocols, hard drive technologies, Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) access networks, fiber optic networks, multimedia delivery as well as various software products and systems including financial trading platforms, payment networks, secondary mortgage market-related software solutions, electronic couponing, photo editing software, social and business networking applications, and enterprise software products.
Previously, Mr. Agdeppa was an associate at both a boutique intellectual property law firm, and a large, national general practice law firm. He also worked as a patent examiner for over 5 years with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) where he specialized in examining patent applications relating to telecommunications and data networking, computer-telephony integration, and terminal equipment and structures.
His experience as a patent examiner also included examining international applications under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), answering appellant briefs, handling reexaminations and reissues, as well as training and mentoring junior patent examiners.
Prior to Mr. Agdeppa’s law firm and USPTO experience, he worked as a software test engineer for Motorola, Inc. and as a validation engineer for Abbott Laboratories and the Sverdrup Facilities Group.
