Hedi Margaret Framm graduated from San Francisco Law School, a four year night school, in 1984. She found her passion for immigration law as a secretary for the law firm of Stiller and Nervo, where she began employment after graduation from San Francisco State University.
She continued employment as a secretary while attending law school in the evenings. After becoming a lawyer, Hedi worked as an immigration attorney for Catholic Charities. She set up her own practice as a sole practitioner in 1988, when Amnesty legislation was passed.
Hedi’s greatest interest has been protecting the most vulnerable. Her practice expanded to Central Americans fleeing civil war in the early nineties, as well as Peruvians fleeing civil war in Peru. Her primary interest is deportation defense, with a focus in political asylum. Hedi’s practice includes significant representation of LGBT groups, primarily from Brazil and Mexico.
Under the current administration, Hedi has become more committed than ever to fight for the rights of her clients, as she struggles against a changing system that is becoming more repressive and negative. Hedi travels between Peru and the United States.
In Peru she works with the Ministry of Women as a volunteer with trafficked adolescents. Her motto is “change one life at a time, and change it for the better.”
