
Ira Fierstein is co-chair of the Leasing Practice Group and a partner in the Chicago office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. He has 30 years of experience counseling national developers, shopping center owners, limited liability companies, partnerships and other clients regarding significant investments in office, retail, industrial, telecommunications, residential and mixed-use properties throughout the United States, Canada and in several European countries.
Mr. Fierstein has represented numerous clients in connection with the acquisition of vacant land, annexation and zoning, construction and permanent financing, construction contracts, build-to-suit and out-parcel sales agreements, reciprocal easement agreements, and leasing and management.
He coordinated the closing of the largest multi-family property to trade in suburban Chicago in the last decade. In addition Mr. Fierstein represented a limited partner in a joint venture involving more than 600 acres of land that included residential, industrial, retail and office projects.
Mr. Fierstein has negotiated “vanilla box,” build-to-suit and ground leases totaling in excess of twenty million square feet of space. He has represented national developers in the assemblage and acquisition of multi-owner properties for development of shopping centers totaling in approximately twenty-five million square feet. He also has resolved complex earn-out and master leasing issues in connection with the disposition of several shopping centers.
Among his accomplishments, Mr. Fierstein has coordinated the activities of limited liability companies in the acquisition and development of mixed-use projects involving conduit, mezzanine and bank financing, telecommunications uses, various investor and tenants-in-common agreements, participation financing and multi-tiered leasing structures.
His experience includes coordinating the development of several regional mall shopping center portfolios, and more than a dozen telecommunications switch facilities (carrier hotels) totaling more than 2.5 million square feet of space throughout the U.S., Europe and Canada.
