J. Kelly Bufton

Mr. J. Kelly Bufton is a partner in the Real Estate Department in the Chicago office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP. He has more than 30 years of experience representing developers, institutional investors and investment advisors regarding land acquisitions, joint ventures, limited partnerships and real estate syndications; debt and equity financing, including construction and permanent loans, participating loans and sale-leasebacks; and construction contracts and leasing, including leases with major retailers, office and industrial users, and build-to-suit deals.

Pension fund clients routinely turn to Mr. Bufton for assistance in purchasing and selling commercial and multifamily residential properties throughout the United States, including joint ventures and convertible mortgages. Funds and their advisors rely upon Mr. Bufton’s thorough knowledge of ERISA and tax-exempt issues to successfully complete their transactions.

Mr. Bufton has worked closely with municipalities to complete land use and planning work. He offers significant experience in pre-annexation, annexation, zoning and subdivision and planned developments.
