Terrance Dillon’s practice is focused on white-collar criminal defense and complicated commercial and business disputes. Colleagues, adversaries, and clients all agree that if a case is going to trial, he is your first call.
Terrance is no stranger to the courtroom. After graduating from law school, he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan, handling numerous criminal prosecutions involving tax evasion and fraud by governement contractors.
He also represented the federal government in a suit against the State of Michigan that established treaty rights for an Indian tribe to fish in the Great Lakes without a state license, and defended the U.S. in several lawsuits brought by individuals who claimed to have suffered neurological symptoms as a result of the government’s swine flu vaccination program. Since entering private practice, Terry has tried nearly 100 cases to a verdict and settled countless others.
In white-collar criminal matters, Terry represents both individuals and companies accused of tax evasion, health care fraud and fraud against government agencies. Sometimes the allegations of fraud are the result of a qui tam lawsuit filed by a former employee.
He also pursues and defends the interests of family businesses, closely-held companies, public corporations, and individuals in minority shareholder oppression, breach of contract, business torts, and other commercial disputes.
As an advocate Terry can present complex concepts and intricate facts in ways that resonate with juries. He also understands the financial and emotional toll that civil litigation and criminal prosecution can take, and while he seeks to resolve matters through negotiation and alternative dispute resolution methods whenever possible, he is not afraid to put on the gloves and go before a jury.
