
Jacob D. Millis focuses his practice on tax law, including state audit defense, commerce clause nexus, gross receipts sourcing, severance tax implications, sales and use tax implications and successor liability rules in corporate reorganizations and mergers. He has advised a range of clients, including oil and gas, metallic mining, and e-commerce companies.
Prior to joining Fox, Jacob was a state and local tax associate at KPMG. He previously served as a law clerk to Judge Elizabeth Crewson Paris of the U.S. Tax Court in Washington, D.C.
During law school, Jacob was a finalist in the ABA Law Student Tax Challenge, LL.M. Division. He also worked as a student attorney at the University of Denver’s Community Economic Development Clinic, where he helped nonprofit organizations meet their transactional needs.
As an undergraduate, he played football at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and studied abroad in London. Jacob also interned for two Wisconsin accounting firms. As a law student, Jacob volunteered at the University of Denver’s Low Income Taxpayer Clinic.
