Jacob A. Schroeder focuses on patent and trade secret litigation and appeals. He has handled numerous litigation and appellate matters in a variety of technologies, including computers, electronics, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals.
Jacob’s litigation experience includes jury trials and covers all aspects of patent litigation: conducting infringement and validity analyses, drafting and arguing motions, taking and defending both fact and expert depositions, coordinating fact and expert discovery, cooperating with and coordinating joint defense group activities, and managing day-to-day litigation activities.
He also advises clients on appellate strategy and routinely handles appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Jacob has clerked at both the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (with the Honorable Richard Linn) and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California (with the Honorable Lucy H. Koh).
Prior to his legal career, Jacob worked as a software engineer at Cisco Systems, Inc., in the Unified Communications Business Unit, developing components for MeetingPlace voice-, video-, and web-conferencing software. Jacob currently serves as the hiring partner for Finnegan’s Palo Alto office.
